Whew! What a crazy week it's been!
Again I apologize for the lack of updates, for some reason the school's firewall was blocking Weebly and the blog, so I was unable to edit. I'm not sure why, but it's not blocked now. Oh well, I'm just glad to be able to update.
I can't believe it's November! The days are racing by. I finally booked my flight home for Christmas, so those of you in PA can expect to see me after the 24th! (although school lets out on the 18th, it was much cheaper to fly out of Anchorage on the 24th. Gotta save where I can!)
Hope I can see everyone for the 12 days I'm home.
The weather is starting to get chilly here and the mountains have a good cap of snow on them. Apparently it snowed on Friday morning, but I missed it. Nothing is sticking to the ground yet, though the swamp is starting to freeze over.
Last weekend we were able to enjoy some of the nice weather and get out on a Honda ride. We rode up the beach to look for glass floats and bottles. It was a lot of fun, and as always, the views were amazing!

This is the view of the tundra on a hill near the beach. I just love that there is nothing for miles and miles. No houses or anything all the way to those mountains in the distance.
Most of the grass has died off, so everything you see are just shades of brown. Still able to find beauty though, like this "cone flower". I don't actually know what they are called.
We didn't see much wildlife, though I did find a wolf print. It amazes me how large they are!

The rest of the week was spent preparing for Halloween. My kiddos worked hard on a hanging banner to give to their parents/guardians. I think they turned out pretty awesome! I wish I had thought to get a picture of the final product, but trust me when I say they looked great!
The feet said "Boo!" and then we drew spiderwebs on the orange paper.
I also forgot to get a picture of the final piece, which was green foot prints on black paper, made to look like Frankenstein's Monster. The kids had a lot of fun putting google eyes on everything!

Then on Saturday we had the Halloween Festival and haunted house! The student government did such a great job putting the haunted house together! My favorite part was crawling on my hands and knees up the stairs through the spooky spiderwebs!
My fellow teachers and I dressed up as superheros! (Heroes both in and outside the classroom!!)
Miss Julie is on the left as Captain American, Miss B (Kirsten) as Thor, and then myself as Batman! Sorry Miss Sam, but I don't have a picture of you :(
I think everyone's costumes turned out great! Thanks Miss Julie for helping me with my cape!
Any this technically isn't in order of occurrence, but I just had to share this picture I took at Kari's house (she cooked us dinner, YUMMM!)
Just another reason I love Port Heiden!
