I haven't updated this blog in over a year. It was something that took a backseat during a year that was well, dang hard. Our student enrollment jumped from 17 to 28 kids, we have numerous schedule changes, and I even switched to a new classroom. Every year teaching I gain so much knowledge, but 2017-2018 was one of my hardest years. I almost considered leaving Port Heiden and head back to be with family.
Then in April 2018, my grandmother passed away. Nothing can prepare you for that. She lived a long, happy life, and she was ready, but I don't think those still here ever are.
Richard worked in Idaho with the forestry service from May to December 2018, and those six months were another challenge. I spent the summer by myself, but had some great experiences along the way. I leased a horse, Polly, for the summer and we were able to attend several shows together. River and I enjoyed swimming the creek, and met lots of dogs at the State College dog park.
Now I can't believe that Christmas is in two days. Where has this year gone?
Looking back, time flies, but I think I made that time worth it.
Hope to post more soon! (My mom said people actually check my little ol' blog, who knew!)
